Poser 5 Tips

Copy/Paste Material Settings

If you need to apply the same material settings to two or more material zones, you can now Copy/Paste them.

On the top bar of the materials, Right click.

A menu box will come up. Hit Select All.

Right click again and select Copy.

Go to the next material in that figure that needs the same material information.

Right click and hit Paste. All the information, including nodes, will be pasted in for that material.

Poser 4 <-> Poser 5 Material Names

If you are going from Poser 4 to Poser 5, or simply trying to follow a Poser 4 tutorial even though you have Poser 5, you might find yourself looking at the Material Room and wondering what the heck is going on. Here's a rough conversion between P4 and P5 material types:

P4 - Object Color
P5 - Diffuse_Color

P4 - Highlight_Color
P5 - Specular_Color

P4 - Ambient Color
P5 - Ambient_Color

P4 - Reflective Color
P5 - Reflection_Color

P4 - Highlight Size
P5 - Highlight_Size

P4 - Transparency Min
P5 - Transparency

P4 - Transparency Max
P5 - Transparency_Edge

P4 - Transparency Falloff
P5 - Transparency_Falloff

P4 - Bump Map
P5 - Bump (Set it to a low value like .015) if you have a PP .jpg file or Gradient_Bump at regular strength if you have a P4 .bum file.

And underneath almost all the _Color options is the equivalent _Value setting where you tell it how strongly to apply that setting. 0 = none, 1 = all the way. (P4 uses percentiles while P5 uses decimal so 50% in Poser 4 equals 0.5 in Poser 5.)

If you've got melted chocolate all over your hands, you're eating it too slowly.
