Pop Tops, pt I

Just call me Dr. Crescentstein! Today we'll put the head of one figure onto the body of another. I'm going to use the Neftoon Gal's head and put it on V3's body. Why? Because the Neftoon-V3 conversion is easy to do. (For a work out, try the Anime Doll. It has extra parts that make it more challenging.) If you don't have the Neftoon Gal, many other figures will work, such as Runtime DNA's LaRoo, DAZ 3D's The G.I.R.L. and sixus 1's HER. (Some work better than others. In at least one case, I left a gap between the head and the neck because the proportions looked nice otherwise and almost any hair mesh would hide the problem, any way.)

Why would anyone want to do this? The Mil figures have a very extensive wardrobe, so it's nice to be able to take advantage of this yet keep the flavor of other figures, such as the Neftoon Gal or the Anime Doll. With some of the body morphs and magnet sets available, it's like having your cake and eating it, too. (And I *love* cake!)

What you'll need:

1) Load V3 into your scene. Do *NOT* move/change the V3 figure in any way!!!

2) Load the Neftoon Gal into your scene.

3) Hide V3's head. (Select the Head. Object: Properties. Remove the checkmark for visible.)

4) Hide the Neftoon Gal's neck.

5) Select the entire body of the Neftoon Gal and move it into position so that the head fits properly onto the neck - no gaps - and looks proportional. (This is why we hid the Neftoon Gal's neck and the V3 head - to make it easy to see when it fits. You may want to hide the chest and collars so you can get a better idea of the proportions as well.)

You may have to scale the figure a bit. For this hybrid, the Neftoon Gal's body was xScaled to 95% and the zScale was set to 90%. The zTrans was nudged to -.002. That got rid of the gaps.

6) Once you're happy with the fit, go to File: Export: Wavefront Object.

7) Hit Okay on the next screen.

8) In the Hierarchy Selection. Remove the checkmark for Universe. That means that everything will be unselected.

9) Go to the Anime Doll figure; it should be Figure 2 if you have no other figures in the scene. Check the Head only and hit Okay.

10) Save the object as NG2V3-Head.obj in the \Runtime\Geometries\!Derived folder.

11) In the next pop-up screen, make sure the 1st, 2nd, and 4th boxes are checked and the others are not and hit Okay.

12) Repeat stetps 6 - 11 with the Neftoon Gal's left eye (NG2V3-LE.obj) and right eye (NG2V3-RE.obj).

Okay - now for the scary part II - the .cr2 file. (Don't working, hacking up a .cr2 is far less horrible than hacking up a hairball!)

I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once.
